Subsidised Lung Screening in Singapore

Don’t Wait For Symptoms.
Protect Your Lung Health Today.

Early-stage lung cancer often has no obvious symptoms. A low-dose CT scan can find it while it is still small and treatable. If you meet the eligibility criteria, you may qualify for a free LDCT scan through 365CPS.

You may be eligible if you hold a Blue or Orange CHAS card, or a Public Assistance card, and you meet any one of the following:

Lung Cancer is Singapore's Most Fatal Cancer, And It Is Usually Caught Too Late

Lung cancer causes more cancer deaths in Singapore than any other type.

The reason is timing. Early-stage lung cancer sits in the lungs without causing pain, coughing or breathlessness, so most people have no reason to see a doctor. By the time symptoms appear, the cancer has often spread, and treatment options narrow sharply.

Screening changes that sequence. It looks for cancer in people who feel completely well. In the large international trials, screening people at higher risk with annual low-dose CT reduced deaths from lung cancer by around a fifth compared with no screening or chest X-ray alone.

Who is Likely At Risk

Even if you feel healthy, screening is recommended if you meet the eligibility criteria., You may have a higher risk of developing lung cancer if you:

Smoking, current or past

A first-degree relative - parent, sibling or child - diagnosed with lung cancer

Exposure to second-hand smoke

Exposure to cancer-causing substances in the environment

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible for this screening programme?

You need a Blue or Orange CHAS card or a Public Assistance card, plus one of: age 50–80 and currently smoking with 20 or more pack-years; age 50–80 and quit within the last 15 years with 20 or more pack-years; or age 50–75 with a parent, sibling or child diagnosed with lung cancer.

The screening is fully paid by 365 Cancer Prevention Society for participants who meet the programme’s eligibility criteria.

A short chest scan that produces detailed images of your lungs at a much lower radiation dose than a standard CT. No injections, no dye, no fasting. It takes minutes.

The dose is low — a fraction of a standard diagnostic chest CT. For people who meet the eligibility criteria, the evidence indicates the benefit of finding cancer early outweighs the small risk from the radiation itself. For people at lower risk, that balance shifts, which is why the criteria exist.

Your confirmation letter tells you how to contact the clinic you selected during registration. You arrange the date and time directly with them, so you can choose what fits around work or family.

Before your scan, a healthcare professional at the clinic goes through your smoking and medical history, answers any questions, and confirms the low-dose CT is appropriate for you. Some clinics do this in the same visit as the scan and others schedule it separately — ask when you book. It is also the right moment to raise anything that has been worrying you.

If your screening results are abnormal, the doctor will explain your results and discuss the next steps, including any further assessment or follow-up care that may be required.

“Thank you for providing this support and gift of the lung CT scan. This was my first lung CT scan. My mum who is in remission, had lung cancer as well as hypothyroidism. The scan also found a 3cm thyroid nodule which requires investigation.
