Why Counselling Matters in Cancer Care

You do not have to face cancer alone.

A cancer diagnosis can bring many emotions for patients, caregivers and loved ones alike. Feelings of fear, anxiety, sadness, uncertainty and overwhelm are common, and seeking support is a meaningful step towards caring for your overall well being.

At 365 Cancer Prevention Society, we believe emotional health is an important part of cancer care. Whether you are newly diagnosed, undergoing treatment, recovering, or adjusting to life beyond cancer, our counsellors provide a safe, confidential and compassionate space where you can share your concerns, process your emotions and find practical ways to cope.

We are here to support you and your loved ones through every stage of the cancer journey, helping you navigate challenges with greater confidence, resilience and hope.

Our Counselling Services Approach

Our experienced counselling team provides tailored support to address the unique needs arising from a cancer diagnosis for adults, couples and families.

Counselling

We provide counselling (also known as talk therapy) to support individuals in navigating personal and relational challenges, including mental health concerns, managing caregiver burnout, processing grief and loss, and the adjustment following a medical diagnosis.

Music Therapy

Music Therapy interventions performed by a music therapist within the context of a therapeutic relationship with clients which is developed through music-based, verbal, and/or non-verbal communication. These include music-making, singing, improvisation, songwriting and the play of a variety of musical instruments.

Play-based Techniques

Play-based techniques offer an enjoyable and engaging approach for individuals to rediscover themselves and deepen their self-awareness. By using toys, art, games, and imaginative activities, this modality provides a safe and creative space where clients can better express and their thoughts and emotions.

Sand Tray Techniques

Sand tray therapy techniques utilise a tray filled with sand and miniature toys, where clients create scenes in the sand. This allows clients to process their life experiences and express emotional hurts that can be difficult to describe verbally by using sand and miniature figurines instead.

Counselling offers a range of benefits. It helps you process your thoughts, feelings, and experiences, allowing you to gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your circumstances. Our counsellors will work with you to develop effective strategies for managing your challenges.

We offer both in-person and online sessions. In-person counselling is conducted at our Headquarters (HQ) or at any of our Social Service Centres (SSCs).

Our counsellor will assess your needs and seek to understand your situation more deeply. Together, you will establish goals and objectives to guide your future counselling sessions.

Each session typically lasts about one hour, though this may vary depending on your specific needs.

The number and frequency of sessions are tailored to your individual needs. You and your counsellor will discuss and determine a suitable schedule together.
